We completed a partial reroof of this operational fuel depot using cyclone-rated materials and strict safety controls, ensuring the site remained fully functional throughout construction.

The fuel depot is a high-risk operational environment where any disruption can impact daily logistics and safety protocols. The existing roof was severely corroded, requiring careful sheet removal while maintaining strict WHP&S oversight. Because the depot could not shut down, all works had to be completed with full fall-arrest systems in place, including retractable lanyards, static lines, harnesses, and installation of wire safety mesh before new sheeting could be laid.
Maintaining safe access for depot staff, fuel trucks, and contractors added further complexity. Temporary edge protection also had to be planned so access doors and pathways remained unobstructed at all times.
Our team developed a tightly coordinated work sequence to keep the depot fully operational while reroofing took place. Safety systems were installed ahead of demolition, allowing our team to remove degraded sheeting without exposing workers or the facility to unnecessary risks. Daily coordination with the temporary edge-protection contractors ensured that safety barriers never blocked critical access points.
To minimise on-site impacts, we staged sheet installation to achieve same-day weatherproofing and managed deliveries during low-traffic periods. The new Colorbond Surfmist system provided a clean, compliant upgrade with improved weather performance.Careful staging and safety planning allowed our team to safely remove deteriorated sheeting and install new roofing without interrupting depot operations. Temporary edge-protection contractors were coordinated to ensure access ways and doors remained unobstructed.
Key strategies included:

Full fall-arrest system with retractable lanyards, static lines, and harnesses

Installation of wire safety mesh prior to laying new sheeting

Careful staging to avoid access disruptions for depot staff and vehicles

Daily communication with edge-protection contractors to maintain safe entry points

Compliance with all WHP&S and fuel-site safety requirements
The depot remained fully operational throughout, with zero service interruptions. All leaks below were rectified, and the new roof was completed ahead of schedule, providing a long-lasting, cyclone-rated upgrade.
