I started my apprenticeship with a local roofer in 2017 and I'll never forget my first day. Working on a roof under a deck with about 300mm of wiggle room. It was nudging 90% humidity and 33 degrees. Safe to say I was seriously questioning my career choice!
But... fast forward 3 years and I had finished my apprenticeship and was now quoting on new builds for award winning builders, architecturally designed homes, commercial structures and roof replacements of 100-year-old Queenslanders.
I quickly realised Cairns had a hole in the roofing market due to the pandemic, and the high number of new builds were luring quality roofers away to work down south.
I saw the opportunity to start SH Metal Roofing and jumped at the chance. Today SH Metal Roofing delivers quality new roofing and replacement works across the Cairns FNQ Region.
